What says “Forest” to you?

Is it nature sounds?  The gentle thrum of a harp string?  Tell me.  Help us find our Forest’s song.

  1. It’s hard to put my finger on a sound that encompass the whole forest…that’s going to take some more thought for sure, though I do have some ideas for the different areas!

I’ve always imagined the playground as having this ‘flutey’ tune to it, just playful little snippets of tunes echoing back to one another like bird calls.

The pond would be, like you mentioned, the thrum of harp strings. Like ripples on water.

The Oak I think already gives us a good idea, the music from in game is very deep and heavy, I don’t know the instrument used in the actual forest version but maybe something along the same lines?

That’s all I’ve got for now but this project is just so inspiring there is sure to be more! 😀

  2. I think flutes and violins more than complement the forest, though I find often when I’m wandering about enjoying a little quiet time in-forest that I tend to have a lot of celtic music playing on my musiclist (Enya to name a well known example). xD Those songs, how mellow a sweet they are just fit the mood to me. Especially when the weather changes.

    Hope that helps any. ^_^

  3. I know what you mean. I’m drawn to the idea of using Andreas Vollenweider because he can hit all those notes and more.

I think my sister is going to choreograph the “Antlers” dance so I HAVE to give her something good!

  4. Andreas Vollenweider would be perfect!
I’ve been thinking of ways to actually make the antlers, which is tricky because they need to be light, but sturdy enough to hold their shape when the dancers move around…
